Hot Craps Question About Place Bets?
I recently learned you can put place bets on the table on the come out roll, and you have to tell the dealer you want the place bets "on". How do these bets win and lose? Does rolling a 7 still make them lose even though it wins on the come out? Or does rolling a 2, 3 ,12 make them lose? or both?
2, 3, nor 12 have any bearing on place bets. the only two numbers that "matter" with place bets are the number you have bet, in which you would win, and seven, in which you would lose.
on the come out roll, place bets are automatically "off" unless called "on". why? on the come out roll, all of the pass line bettors are HOPING for a seven. for you to call your bets "on" or "working" is kinda bad karma. if a seven comes in, everyone is having fun and winning, and you lost. is that any fun? once a point is established, your bets will be "on" automatically. if the point is one of your place bets, the dealer will either;
a) leave it there
b) move it to your pass line odds (pays better)
c) move it to its corresponding place bet ie 4 to 10, 5 to 9, or 6 to 8 (or the other way)
d) move it anywhere you want (another place bet, for example)
e) return your bet
If the place bets are "on", then the fact that it's the come out roll doesn't matter, it's just like any other roll. If your number hits, it wins, if a 7 hits, it loses. 2, 3, 12 doesn't mean anything to a place bet. If a 7 hit, you win a pass line bet, but the bets are independent.
You have to specifically tell the dealer, because normally people don't make place bets on the come out roll.
placing the 4,5, 9 or 10 are worse bets than ''buying'' them..you just learned you could ''buy'' bets…so if a top contributor and a gambling professional didn't tell you that fact how good can their advice be.. in your question your words are ''you can put place bets''..did you know in some casinos you can make a "put" bet on a number after the come out roll? a six is rolled….you make a passline bet on the 6 that was just rolled and you can immediately make an odds bet on the 6..and it is a great bet if the casino allows 20 times odds….and i am not a top contributor…but i might be a professional gambler…or maybe not….
